I'm going into the high school, and I am currently wearing the only bra that I have, a too small training bra that my mom bought me when I was in fifth grade! I had it for four years! The thing doesn't even cover my breasts any more and it's embarrassing when I'm in the changing room for Gym and sports practice. It used to be white, but now, since I had it so long, it's a light brown color. When ever I put it on the front streaches a little. I tried to measure myself at home, and I found out that I'm a 32A, but I'm not sure if it's 100% accurate since I was doing it myself. Should I ask my mom to take me bra shopping, and if so, how should I do it?

Walk into the room just wearing that worn out thing and say "look I NEED a bra! Help me please!"

Definately, YES, ask your mom! She just may not even realize it with all of life's busy chaos :) I will tell you that as a woman and a mom, I HATE shopping for bras...their is a lot of trying them on, etc...because no one's breasts are the same...LOL So, when I buy bras, and I find the right one, I will get a few of them, so I don't have to do it again for awhile...Also, let your bras air-dry! If you put them in the dryer, it will wear out the elastic faster! I have a preteen who is developing, and we will be going shopping soon! Good luck!!

Hi:

I'm 38, but I had this exact same communication problem with my mom around puberty. I was really, really close to my mom but we just couldn't talk about this. Do you have a good friend close to your age (or else an adult aunt, older cousin) that you could take bra shopping? Anyone you trust her to be honest but also to be kind? My breasts appeared all of a sudden during my ninth-grade year, I mean literally within a couple of months, and I just didn't know how to cope. I truly wish you the best, and it does get easier
as you get older...take it from an old lady like me!. .

If mom is unwilling to take you, go to the store yourself with a friend. Most department stores will fit you if you ask, do not be embarrassed as we ALL wear bras! I wasnt fitted until I was 30! Wore the wrong size or didnt know how to pick em well until then.

well you are 14 so yes she should take you bra shopping or ask her for money.
Its ok to have a couple bras , most women only have the same 3 bras they wear, because there so exspensive. But since your breast are not big you should find cheap bras for like $10.

How about just go to her and say mom I need a new bra. This is not a tough situation. I am sure that your mom knew this day was coming and unless she is just a bad mom I am sure she will go out and get you some new bras. Just go ask her.

Just tell her. Its okay to let your mom know that you need some new bra's. I would have been telling my mom a long time-ago that I need new ones. Or just tell your mom that you need money to go to the mall with your friend, so you can buy some new bra's. G-L

Just tell her that you need a bigger bra because the one you have is too small, or tell her that the bra you have ripped and need new ones...I don't know why she would make you wear the same bra for years.

You need to take what you wrote about this problem to your Mom. It is a possibility that she does not realizes it had been that long since she took you shopping for this item. Also money may be a factor - check with Mom she is the only one that knows for sure!@

just tell your mom hey when we go for new school clothes do you mind if i get a few new bra's to mine is tight. that is very respectable thing to do. or you could just save up your own money and go buy your own. you don't need your mom with you when you shop for bra's unless you want her there.
