alot of companies now check credit history thinking that if you are not responsible enough to pay bills, then you cant hold down a job. Just explain that you need the job so you can pay your bills. Just kidding. They wont care. If you have a lot of other qualifications, then sometimes they just might overlook the credit problem. Get used to it though. Everything in life revolves around that credit score. lol

Yes, they been doing that for a long time, they just don't speak of it. You need credit even to rent a place, all is tied to your ss#. Now they are fencing us in along the borders, since 9/11 as well now you have to have a passport to take a cruise, cross any border by 1/08. The State Dept, INS, IRS, now all controlled by homeland security, computers in sync. If you owe taxes, bad credit, child support they got you. But if you are illegal, you can stay for cheap labor. Kinda like Germany pre 1940.

But yes, this is most often in financial settings, I had to have my credit pulled prior to me working at my job, and I can see why, although the credit bureaus formulas are semi shrouded in mystery, a credit report could easily be used to form the basis as to how responsible you are.

Yes they can.. However, they would probably never tell you that was the reason. Employers are afraid of collection agencies calling you at work.
