but the motor unit looks pretty small and basic compaired to newer one's, could new rings cyl sleaves & bearings seals be such a large expence? if it where a vor-tec v8 manybe $2000 to totaly rework, could this old mercedes motor last 15 more years if repaired, my 98 isuzu 4cyl fuel injection could not even make 70,000 miles it's dead and will cost $1500 to repair, no quality in that one, and only around 20 MPG , I feel the auto makers of some models really didn't plan on their machines lasting as well as they should have, as a good friend of many years once told me about bourbon whiskey, he stated it was made to sell and not to drink, a good point made ,as many cars could be made to sell but don't expect to drive them very long, aren't the older a little cheaper for parts,due to the low amount of Tec-and electro trash , like on newer models,?

rebuild it it is worth it mercedes built them to last if you do it youre self you could rebuild it ascheap as 500 or as much as 2000 all up to you how far to go this is the qeustion you will have a slow powerless car tha is great on fuel and will go forever. my fathers has 340000 miles and it has never been rebuilt yet still gets 35 mpg

well older cars have more expensive parts especially mercedes because no ur talking about old quality parts. if you want to restore a car but modernize the engine it is possible to do so. old car new engine and they say Pimp My Ride!

240 D and 300 D the best cars out there, they last for long long long time if you do your maintenance ; Oil change filters and kill the allege in the tank with additive.
