I believe the soul is a fancy, emerging from primitive superstition and human hubris (although many primitive societies believed other animals, and plants, had souls, facilitating a greater insight into relationships between humans and all other things). What there is, is the living mind. And that, apart from avoiding bumping into trees, is where we live, and die. It's messy, ignorant, deluded, but marvelous!

That is a great way to think of it. Most all life on Earth needs the Sun except for organisms at the bottom of the deepest parts of the ocean. So yes, I believe you would be correct to say so!

We see light, but not all wavelengths of light that exist. This doesn't answer the question but makes it more confusing.
