In response I'd like to post this from mother ease's website:"A chemical that simply should not be in a baby’s diaper is called sodium polyacrylate. This substance is found in the fluff layer of the disposable and turns your baby’s urine into gel. Sodium polyacrylate can absorb 100 times its weight in liquid. It makes for a very absorbent diaper, but has been linked to Toxic Shock Syndrome in tampon use. In the past, use of this chemical has been associated with severe diaper rash and bleeding perennial and scrotal tissue, because it pulls fluid so strongly that it excoriates human tissue." I know it's more trouble but I also know it's well worth it, If you are going to criticize, please do not answer.

I used cloth diapers too. My best advice is NO Bleach! This isn't good for baby's skin and shortens the life of the diapers. Just use borax and gentle detergent in the wash to clean your diapers and 1/2 cup white vinegar for the rinse. This will balance the ph and act as a sofener too. I also kept water with 1/2 cup vinegar in the diaper pail. This reduces any odor and makes them easier to clean. Dry in the sunlight whenever possible too. Congrats on baby.

I think it is great that you are going to use cloth diapers.
Just make sure that you don't use any fabric softners because they cause the diapers to be less absorbent and also can irritate the baby's skin. The same goes for bleach, it can be very irritating if not completely rinsed out of the diaper. The sun is your best bleach, I know, not many people hang clothes out to dry any more but the sun is the best for them to get them white and more sterile for the next use. They won't be as soft but you can always throw them in the dryer for 10 minutes to fluff them up.
I'm medically incontinent and I have to wear diapers 24 / 7 and even I use cloth. Sure, I have that extra laundry each week (2 loads) and have to have the diaper pail and all that goes with it.
Just use your common sense and everything will be just fine.
Remember the main reason for using cloth diapers is . . . . your baby's comfort and health, not your convenience. With disposables, people are putting their own selves first and not their baby, what a shame.
Good luck.

Mother Ease look fantastic! I did a lot of research on cloth diapers when I was pregnant. I don't think I saw these. Anyway I sue Kushies Ultra All in One (about US $8.00/ea). They come in 3 sizes (newborn, infant and toddler). My daughter is starting to grow out of the infant size. I'm impressed with Mother Ease because of the one size.
Anyway, tips that I can give you. Buy doublers, I use Mother of Eden and they are super absorbant. The doublers also help fill in any gaps that may occur and help prevent leaking. Use very little detergent when you wash them. For some reason when you use a lot of detergent the urine smell stays on the diaper. You can also use vinegar but I only use vinegar in the wash about once a month. Also, I do not use baby wipes. I bought a 20 pack of wash cloths and keep them moistened in a container. They clean so much better than the wipes and I wash them with the diapers.
Good for you for using cloth! It's so much better on the environment and your baby's tushy. The people that are anti cloth don't know what they are talking about. They obviously have not done the research.

Did you try Tots Bots or Bumkins?
TotsBots fluffle, bamboozle, Rainbow, Tots Original... and they have also one-size.
For parents in Asia, mainly in Hong Kong, there are now 2 or 3 shops selling cloth diapers. Doubibou.com is one of them, selling many natural products from UK, US, Germany, Australia...
But if you breastfeed your baby, the All-in-one may not be the best option.
The Fuzzy Bunz is one of the best and it is very practical!

I switched to cloth diapers for a while but switched back because it gave my children rashes that bled and they were so uncomfortable for days. if you are going to use cloth you should really do the diaper service because I fount that washng them at home is just not effective enoguh. They must be done in the exact right way and it is duffacult to get them perfeftly clean. good luck.

Hope you plan on investing in a diaper service, if not you're crazy. Cloth diapers are much more trouble than disposables and aren't truly proven to make much difference unless you're trying not to irritate an existing rash.
