you miscarried ... when you miscarry the hcg hormones are still present for weeks, both in the blood and in the urine. if it makes you feel better go back to have your blood tested agian. if the hcg levels go up (higher then before) then you are still pregnant, but if they go down then you miscarried and are no longer pregnant. GOOD LUCK!!

I don't want to burst your bubble and I hope that I am totally wrong but... it sounds like you had a miscarriage. What happens is your body expels the baby or at least tries to expel the baby. When this happens it is totally common for pregnancy tests both blood and urine to come back positive. See both kinds of tests are looking for the same thing, hCG. This happens two ways. One could be that you body totally got rid of the baby and that would mean that your hCG levels would plummet. They would still be there but there would not be a normal amount for how far along you should be. The second way is that the body tries to get rid of the baby but is unsuccessful but the baby is no longer alive. The way they determine this is by checking your levels on a daily or every other day time frame. What they are looking for is hCG levels that are dropping instead of rising. I know this sucks and there is nothing that I or anyone else can say or do that is going to make you feel better about this. So I am not going to try. All I can say is I am sorry. Please go see a doctor. They are going to need to do a pelvic exam on you to make sure that everything came out otherwise you could get an infection that could be life threatening. I hope this helped you in some way. GOOD LUCK.

The HCG can stay in your blood and urine for a few weeks after being pregnant. Sounds like you had a miscarriage. I had one at 11 weeks, and still had positive pregnancy tests for about 2 months after. I ended up getting pregnant again 4 months after the miscarriage. It really depends on how far along you were in the first place... if they couldn't find anything in an ultrasound after you were about 8 weeks, there's pretty much very little chance that they just missed the embryo in the scan. Go to your OB and have another ultrasound done.

Ultrasounds may be high-tech... but they can also be mis-read... and it can be too early to detect anything. Wait a few weeks to a month and go to the ER if you still have not started your period and are still testing a positive. Tell them that you got a positive pregnancy test... but you want to know for sure what is going on. I hope this helps! Good luck!!
