Will a mouse come into a room where a cat litter box is located? We have a problem with a small house mouse and are working on trying to catch it. Any advice would be appreciated.

We've had better luck with glue pads rather than the wooden traps. If the traps don't work, call an experienced exterminator.

Why? Mice have fleas and fleas carry diseases, which they can transmit to humans. Exposure to Hanta virus is a serious problem which stems from the feces of mice. If you find mice feces, wear a mask and gloves when you clean up the mess.
Mice also carry ticks so you risk exposure to Lyme's disease or other tick-borne infections.

Mice can squeeze thru the tiniest hole so seal any areas of entry. Most common entry points are water pipes, the space between the concrete foundation and the wooden shakes, or under the garage door. Old stairs or porches that are no longer use because they creep in near the sill. Mice can squeeze thru the opening in between the garage door jamb and the adjoining walls. Seal all areas with an outdoor caulking material.

Yes mice will go into a room where a litter box is. We had mice that would steal cat food straight from the cats bowl, and leave the cats with none. I thought they were eating more than usual, until we saw them do it ourselves.

The best way to get rid of them, is to find out where they are coming in at, and to seal it off. Get live traps, put peanut butter in them, and catch and release several miles from home. Live traps cost about $15 at our local Home Depot.

To catch a mouse. Place a long neck bottle into a cupboard with the neck protruding out over a bucket of water with a piece of cheese or some peanut butter in the end.Put a sock over the fat end off the bottle and up to the start of the neck to allow easy climbing for the mouse. Then go to bed. Mouse smells dinner, climbs into cupboard races up the sock along the neck of the bottle and slips into bucket of water.Mouse will swim in circles in bucket until rescued or drowned.

I used to have a mice problem in my house...and then I just went to the store to buy some traditional mouse traps (the wooden ones that snap), and just used a small piece of bread and dipped some oil (sesame oil and olive oil works best) as bait, then put the trap where we last saw the mice or where we last saw some mice crap. Next, day, boom. Dead mice.
Problem solved.

Mouse traps work good (whydoesnt your cat catch it for you?) I had the same problem couldnt put poison down cos of the cat. If you dont fix it now it will have babies and youll have a colony before you know it

Are you trying to catch it or exterminate it?
If the latter. D-Con pellets are really effective.
Make sure you put some water in a small saucer or dish nearby. If you're trying to catch it, it may be too small for most "traps". You could try devising a cage type trap with a spring-loaded door. Peanut Butter is a great bait.

Depends on the mouse. We've had mice who have eaten out of the cat feeder.
