regardless of whether they score, the other team then gets the ball and has a chance to score.

BUT in NFL play when the winner of the toss gets the ball, and if they score, the game is over; without the loser of the toss ever having a chance to get the ball.

Is this fair? It seems that sometimes the out come of the game is decided by a "coin toss".

The college method is more fair, I think.

I agree.

I think, if they want to shorten the game, give them each a chance with the ball on the 25 yard line like in college, and then, like in the second overtime in college, don't allow extra points, but compel them to try for the 2 point conversion if they score a touchdown. I think this will keep them from having more than one overtime 70% of the time.

without a doubt, the college method is not only more fair, but more exciting as well. There was a recent poll (I found it on the Daily Quickie, ESPN.com, Page 2), and a vast majority of fans agree that the biggest advantage of College Football over the NFL is the overtime rule.

Maybe the NFL suits can understand this. Can you imagine the backlash if a playoff game were decided by the flip of a coin??

it is fair college wise, BUT the pros are PAID to play the defense should be able to hold the offense if they want to win. Thats what I believe anyway

in the pros you pay defensive players too. if your defense makes a stop you get the ball and a chance to win. get your defense out there and make them earn the money you pay them.

Fair or not, those are the rules.
