You can buy an IP address otherwise your ISP internet service provider assigns you a temporary one each time you log in. There are normally 3 classes A, B ,C
Permanent IP # are bought by companies for their routers, servers , printers and for the bosses. Everybody else gets a temporary one generated by DHCP server.

Start, All programs, Assessories, Command Prompt, type ipconfig/all

it's under IP address

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in "CMD" with out the quotes in the slot available
Then a black window should open up
Type in "IPconfig"
and look next to IP Address.

START > RUN > type CMD, enter

In the black DOS looking window that opens type, IPCONFIG, enter

This will show the IP of the system you are on.

If you are behind a router and or a firewall you will need to log in to it and look at the connection / configuration / settings tab.

Depends are you using Broadband or Dsl or Dial-up. If your using a router they default the IP. If its Dsl or broadband your settings are probably on automatic detect and it just picks an IP for you

This is how I find my ISP address. Select the following:

Start
Settings
Network connections
Local area connection
Choose the Support tab and there it is.

Go to the corner of your desktop.

Step 1You will see run. open it. Type in cmd.
step 2 ipconfig. You will have it
