well I'm 17 and I lived in colombia (the country) for year and just got back. if u dont know about that country its where most of the cocaine comes from and theres a lot a violence there. yeah so I saw alot of things there that most people have only seen on tv and before that I used to be a really happy person and really immature with my friends but now I'm all serious and everything and I'd rather talk to adults than people my age. is this just a phase or will it be like this for the rest of my life because I ljust wanna be how I was before.

Be so glad!! You are now officially an adult (no longer shallow in your endeavors, but deep). This is such a good thing for you and don't worry about being different from your other American friends that have not experience real life from other countries... You have had a special encounter and your life will never be the same. Find new friends and embrace your new life!

by the way, i've been there....

I am not sure you can be like you were before....because you have SEEN stuff others can only imagine...You feel more comfortable talking with adults because you feel that you can relate better to them...maybe it is just a phrase but who knows....only you will know....in time... no offense, but i would not want to go over to Colombia any time soon...due to the violence!!! but i am sure it was a good experience even though you saw some stuff you'd rather let go off!!!

just stay away from violence for some time. try not to think about that year and forget it like a nightmare. all you need to do is stop worrying about that and you will be happy once again. being serious is also important but not always

Your experiences have made you more aware and mature...and ultimately more serious. There is nothing wrong with having good common sense. As you maneuver yourself in safe surroundings you can release your guard to the point that you can continue to enjoy life.

What has happened to you is called growing up. Welcome to the real world. You will adjust soon enough.
