Are there anymore traditionalists in this society other than me?

I am against it. I think that if you have sex with every boyfriend you have, then when you do get married then it doesn't mean as much. If you save yourself for that one person you could love and Cherish for the rest of your life than that is the best gift you could give to them.

Not many, as the majority of people have now realized this isn't the dark ages. Also keep in mind that this is a religious belief, and many people are not religious. Personally I don't understand your belief, because sex is a natural part of human life. What's wrong with wanting to share yourself with somebody you have a great relationship with? Who says they should have to be married? Also, some people get married very late in life or don't end up getting married at all. What about them? Do they not deserve sex...because sex should be a part of everyone's life at some point. And not to be rude or anything, but I have notice that some christian couples marry very young, and I think the reason is probably so that they can have sex without "sinning" or whatever. What a mistake!

G'day Piglet564,

Thanks for the question. Personally, I have no problem with it for consenting adults.

However, it is still opposed by many religious organisations and those who follow those beliefs.

For example, opposition to premarital sex is the cornerstone of abstinence-only sex education, a program advocated by President George W. Bush and many Conservative members of Congress. The policy is opposed by groups such as Planned Parenthood and many liberal and progressive members of Congress, and the debate over abstinence-only education has brought the issue of premarital sex to the forefront of the Culture Wars. It is also strongly opposed in Islamic countries.

I enclose some sources for your reference.

Regards

Me. (I guess I still count)

Technically, i'm NOT against premarital sex, but i do believe that virginity is important and isn't something to give away on a whim.

Personally, the one person who'll get at my virginity will be my husband because I think it's right. I mean, if he's willing to vow his life to me, shouldn't he get a nice prize? Meaning to say, if you get married to someone, shouldn't you love them enough to give them what they (by all rights) deserve?

Yup. Yay to abstinence til marriage.

I wouldnt do it before marriage - no matter how crazy i am about the guy or he is about me. its hard, but i have too much respect and love for my future husband (whoever he might be, for there is no guarantee until that vow is sealed) that i am willing to wait :) If so it happens he wants to leave me because of it, then the harder like stone i'll stand for this principle for that shows he's just not that into me as true love but more of lust and how can i ever fall for that lame reason?

Nope. Sex before marriage is quite common these days with engaged couples.

My wife and I were no exception to the rule.

Then of course, there was that 2 weeks she used me like a piece of raw meat after her ovarian cancer surgery...

A lot of my friends and family stopped talking to me because I had sex out of wedlock. I don't think it matters if you are married or not, as long as you are ready to accept the consequences of possible pregnancy or a deadly disease, then you should not be judged for doing that.

Yes there is Biblical basis for no premarital sex.
There seems to be more discipline for a longer lasting marriage if one waits.

I have so much respect for anyone who is strong enough to make that choice and stick to in in our over sexed culture.

I did not do that myself, but do believe it is the healthiest choice overall for most people.
