Eleanor H. Porter authored a 1913 novel "Pollyanna" , a story of a young girl named Pollyanna Whittier who made the town to be miraculously pleasant and healthy due to her gladness. A series of Pollyanna sequels (Glad Books) were later published by Elizabeth Borton.

It's Pollyanna. How I loved that smarmy book with the too-good child. Being the orphan of missionary parents, she learned to play the Glad Game. She teaches it to the people in the village including a grouchy invalid.

You mean the book Pollyanna. Made originally into a Disney movie starring Hayley Mills and Ithink there have been a few newer versions made.

Pollyanna-Disney made a movie about it w/ Haley Mills. She ends up paralyzed in a wheelchair and yet still is happy.

If i'm not wrong, there's a sequel to this book and it's just as good..
