I have two such friends. They are both there for me. We can go months without talking but when we need each other, all we need to do is pick up the phone and we are there. One has been my friend for 25 years and the other for 9 years.

Sweetheart the first step towards having a best friend is to find someone who shares your views and has the same liking as yours. Iam sure you meet hundreds of people and there is someone who has the same likes and dislikes as yours. If you meet someone who you think might be on the same wave lenght as yours, initiate the friendship, if you get a warm vibe, you are on your way to find yourself a good buddy who might become your best friend later on. Remember best friends are made over a period of time. You cant become best friends in a meeting or two. You have to develop you aquaintance into friendship and friendship into " best friends". There might be some instances where you two might NOT agree on some terms but thats natural, and be aware of people who agree on whatever you say cause they dont have a backbone or they might break your.
Take care

Yea. I have not spoken to my best friend in 4 years. I am not gay. But he broke my heart. I cried for many hours. I simply called him a opportunist for going to a party and not letting me know, as we had arrangement the same night. Since then I have never heard from him again. In fact he left the country to go live in London. Michel ! If you happen to see this answer ? Give me a call. I miss having a good pal.

Yeah, I feel the same way... I had a bestfriend in high school and college, but we moved away and grew apart. I have a lot of virtual internet friends and a few personal friends, but no best friend and I miss it:-(
