Sounds To me that's it's a case of stereotype. But basically she was being a stupid ignorant person. To place people in the same category is rude. We are all unique in are on beauty. That girl probably could have also been racist and a bigot too cause when people don't understand some things and get the wrong message they conjure up their own explanations. Also black people don't have big eyes. they have normal eyes just like everyone else.

Not necessarily racist, just ignorant. A lot of people don't dislike blacks or anything but because they were simply never taught better, are quick to believe silly stereotypes. She was probably looking at you funny simply because she's not used to being around black people, though she saw nothing wrong with you being black. I notice myself doing this sometimes, to a smaller extent (I am most certainly NOT racist) because I live in a very white neighborhood, so it's unusual to be around black people. I try not to show it, and I always feel horrible about it. So I think it was a little harsh to get mad at the girl. You should apologize to her (or at least your friend) for calling the girl's question stupid. It was incorrect, but she wasn't stupid to make the assumption, because it's probably just something she's noticed or has been told. Explain that you found the question offensive but you realize that the girl probably meant no harm and you're willing to try to be friends with her.
And by the way, to the person who asked if "it wasn't racist why did she wait to ask you in private" there's a simple answer to that. She was probably embarrassed that she felt uncomfortable around you and didn't want to embarrass you or embarrass herself more by asking when your friend was around.

You did not mention the ages involved.
A likely scenario, is that this a young child who may not have much contact with people of other ethnic backgrounds. Until it is proven in their eyes, they will often claim that their point of view is the sole truth.
If this was not a young child, I would consider the question rude and inappropriate. I would not be able to say if it was racist.

you sound young but if you and your Friends are older than 12 than they should know better. Yeah its a little racist but there just listening to society's stereotypes. They are ignorant but you shouldn't be. Don't fight with them...That would be validating the stereotype. You should be the mature on and go talk to them. If they persist then just ignore them.

That sounds annoying and a little bitchy, but not quite full-fledged racist. A fair amount racist, though. Don't hang out with HER anymore!

yeah it's racist. if she didn't mean any harm then why did she wait to ask in private like if it was no big whoop to her why did she just stare and stare and then ask about blacks having large eyes when it was just the two of them. what a psycho.
also if it was an honest question then what kind of answer was she expecting??? for you to say well us blacks you know we're planted in a separate section of the cabbage patch where the sun isn't as bright so we have to open our eyes wider than the babies planted in the sunny part of the cabbage patch. seriously wtf???
