I know the general idea of the book but can't remember the title or the name of the author.

It is a fiction book by a female author. I don't know the author's name or even remotely what it might be. Well, the lead character is a female. She moved to manhatten or maybe it was NYC. She is a former wedding videographer or a photographer. I think the owner of the business she used to work for was Harvey (?) I think she is a writer or an editor or something. She falls in love with the owner of the coffee shop she always hangs out in. I believe that guys name is Jake. It's a pretty general romantic comedy but it is driving crazy because I lost the book and was only half done with it.

Its ok. By knowing a part of it will help. Tell which part of the book you know and any anyone who happened to be familiar with such book can help to identify.

Ask a librarian. They are trained to help you find what you're looking for. That's why they're paid the big bucks ;)

Alternatively, you could list what you DO remember about the book on a site like this and see if anyone else can remember the title and author. If just the right person happens to see your question and know what you're talking about, you'd be in luck.

put the details in a Yahoo Question. Someone may recognise it and give you the title.
Sometimes a person would come to the library and ask for a book. They remembered that it had a blue cover, but couldn't remember the author or title.
Put down everything you can remember and we'll try to help you.

Try going by category. Is it fiction, non-fiction, suspense, romance, thriller, etc.
Narrow it down, then search like crazy in the shelves. Good luck
