Your e6560 has USB? Then you can install a downloaded driver (from floppy if need be) and interface the USB CD drive.

However, you can also install the latest Linux distributions via floppy, though you will need to create the floppies from CDs. And, you can install Linux over a network (including over the Internet).

It may be possible to install Windows over a network, but there are copyright and EULA issues if you do so without a corporate license.

Good luck!

The Reason:
Your Laptop is in a condition called Free DOS condition. This is simply the default mode that you have on any laptop. But the problem lies in your computer not having Internal CD ROM DRIVE. Look the Internal CD ROM Drive is called and SCSI Drive which it recognizes. Since you don't have one you are big trouble. When you don't have an OS the computer does not recognize the USB port or any ethernet port since such advanced things are actually recognized by the OS.
The Remedy:
1)Well this the most difficult part. Since you don't have one CD ROM Drive, think seriously to fit one internally even if that costs you and install the OS.
2)Open your Hard Drive from the back of the Laptop and take it to service center where they will install the OS for you. If you have a Plug and play cover and chip then you can fit it via USB to any other Working PC and install the OS on your HDD. But that won't solve the Problem. You have repeat the Process everytime you format your HDD. Your Laptop is not an Indipendent computer till you fit in an Optical Drive. Look you can't install everything through USB drives.
3)Your USB External drive will not work till your Machine has an OS to detect it. So forget about it and go fit some Optical drive. 4)There is another remedy but I am not sure about it. You have a Floppy drive so you can install whatever driver they have given with it or if they have not given one then you have to make a recovery drive from any of the Windows XP or 98 computer and then use it for disk partition using Fdisk and access your External Drive via the support Platform of the Floppy. I would like to suggest that you make a recovery Floppy of XP and then try it out by hit and trial method to install whatever there is on the Floppy.

Go to this website http://www.nu2.nu/bootdisk/

Printout how to make a modular boot disk. What you are going to have to do is add the USB drivers to the disk so when the system boots it will see the USB ports.

Then you can use your external drive OR get a USB to ethernet adapter and load across the network.

First, check the bios to check if the USB can be set to be bootable. Some Bios allow this. If not, you just need to download a driver for the USB cdRom and put it on your floppy.
