is it in fashion to wear leggings with shorts?

well now to your question...

leggings and layering are @ a peak in fashion right now.

for fall you can wear leggings under anything except, denim/khaki shorts. you don't want to look silly when you're wearing them, but more like, i woke up this morning, threw on the first thing in each of piles of my dresser and walked into to school...know i look hot in w/e i'm wearing. the leggings are just and accesory almost to what u have planned.

they work best under skirts, and no it doesn't have to be a denim mini or '80s outfit'; you can try them under courdoroy skirts (ex: honey colored courdoroy w. chocolate color leggings and birkenstocks- now pair that w. a cardigan and printed tee and layered cami under that and a head scarf and you're ready for a day of shopping and envious stares!!)

the fancy way to wear leggings is w. your shorts...you want to wear them under shorts that have a cuff @ the base or are designed out of materials similar to those found in your dress trousers or tweed, etc. you wear the leggings to basically extend the length of your legs, create a more formal look and look in season; pair this with pumps, not full heels, and i would suggest a wedge b/c it takes for the classiness of the outfit. try rounded toe/peep toe shoes for a more casual look and pointed toe for a job interview. pair w. a cable knit short sleeve sweater or sweater vest and you'll look fab!!

make sure not to over due the hair or accesories either, and try to stick w. similar colors.

shorts w. leggings but do not wear them w. any GAP/LL BEAN/Kohl's style shorts. follow?

I have personally not seen these two items on the same person - but heck start your own fashion trend. I have seen shorts with really long boots - I don't see much difference!@

Yeah leggings with mini skirts - very sad, very sad indeed. The whole POINT of a mini skirt is to show off those sexy legs. I hope this fad dies soon.

I've seen people wearing them with shorts and mini skirts. The trend isn't really for me though.

it actually depends on what kind of shorts they are..if theyre the casual or jeans shorts..try to avoid it..but if theyre the classy/casual ones from like forever 21 you could try it if you like the style

i say skirts work it better...but then again it might look cute with shorts..but i wouldnt do it..so i say no to shorts...and yes to skirts..
