It is only true if you are adding in a base 10 number system. This is the most logical answer I can come up with. I don't understand what this has to do with hobbies and crafts, though.

same as 1 + 1 = 2 --->1
2 + 1 = 3 ----->2
3 + 2 = 5 ---->3
1 and 2 implies3. and according to commutatitivity 2+3=3+2=5.

If you take have 2 pebbles, and find 3 more pebbles,how many pennies do you now have? If you count all the pebbles, they equal 5.
** (2 pebbles)
*** (3 pebbles)
Count them - there are five of them!
Therefore 2+3=5!

Algebraically, it should be five. Maybe you have a different definition of numbers 2, 3 and 5.
