Why do people nowadays work so hard to get a lot of money? Why do most of them spend less time in charity work, family gatherings as well as other activities in various organizations. What is it about money that makes them forget other aspects of life?

People work hard to justify their existence, to feel alive and to have less need to reflect and think about the meaning of their existence. If people would reflect, they would try to balance other deeper and important aspects of their lives with their search for money. However, as most people do not truly reflect, they are subject to the most primal drives, worrying about their own basic needs and desires. These drives have no brakes and keep a person super-busy. Only with reflection, does one have a chance at achieving a healthier and more integrated life modality.

Work hard to get a lot of money? You might find that people work hard just to get enough money to put a roof over their head and feed their family. People often work so hard cos it takes a lot of hours to earn enough to live.
Maybe you have a romantic notion of a time when people lived differently - I don't think they did, we have always had to work a lot.

I have no time for charitable events..I work long hours as a nurse to make people better..Aspects of life? I have many when I can find the time

well, it depends on motivation. whatever your motivation is , as long as you're not hurting other people it's good. whether for your own selfish reasons or you're being altruistic it is the same. you cannot be blamed for that.
