Never heard of such a thing. There's nothing wrong with checking your email alot, unless it's screwing up your life. I personally don't check my e-mail enough, and should do so more. Some people have their cell phones set to let them know whenever they get an e-mail, which is the other extreme. Don't see anything freekish about that, however.

Yes, that would be me. My e-mails are my connections with the outside work. Teachers from my daughter's school e-mail me.I ordered most things from my computer. Almost everything I do has to do with my computer. So yes, I check my e-mails about 15 to 20 times a day. You can call me an e-mail freak and proud of it.
