A list of reasons why Naruto is good ( my opinion)
1. The series features a very unconventional portrayal of what and how ninjas and ninja villages are normally perceived. For example the ninjas do not all dressing black suits and black mask and their village is not just full of shadowy killers.
2. The show is funny. There is plenty of toilet humor, perverted jokes, slap-stick humor, characters with funny personalities.
3. The characters have depth and as the show progresses characters change, mature and develop well. Most of the main characters all have their own unique personality, they have their triumphs and failures.
4. Naruto is packed with action and adventures with some good suspense. The original Japanese version has a good amount of blood and gore scenes that you may not find in the english dubbed versions.
5. Friendships and bonds between characters develop and is quite heart warming at times, especially between Naruto and Sasuke.
6. As episodes progress the themes mature as the character get older. The plot lines also become more complex.
It is normally hard to tell how an anime series is good until you get more into it. Just the first episode is not an adequate enough to judge the quality of a show Most of the time. I would suggest you what at least the first 20 episodes.

there are so many fans because
1) it is on at a time the little kids are up (as opposed to anime like Inyuasha that comes on after 11 or so)
2) it is flashy and nice looking all around so people who watch one episode usually will watch more
3) it IS one of the only ninja related shows i know about, and ninjas have developed a cult following in the past years
4) people just can't get enough of the witty banter from the show "BELIEVE IT!" ....but seriously
4) it has a good storyline that makes you want to find out what will happen
5) it doesn't take 5 episodes for one fight to take place (ala DBZ)
and finally 6) there is a goal that once it is reached the series will end (as opposed to some where the main character wants to become the strongest in the universe and stronger beings keep appearing, again ala DBZ)

that's my opinion, i like it too, but i'm not obsessed

Well, I've been watching Naruto for a while now, and there's action-y episodes and there's episodes where all they do is sit around like lazy bums and TALK. But I think what makes Naruto popular..... is the blood and violence that's shown in the action-y episopes. Don't get me wrong, though. The blood that's on the dubbed version is usually, like, a bleeding lip or a gash on the back of someone's hand.
If you don't like bloody animes, stick to the dubbed. Do not watch the Japanese version.

ok. to enjoy it, avoid the fillers. fillers are episodes created to give time to the author for drawing more manga, so that the anime dosnt catch up whats being made on paper.
i think the show is very famous because of the charisma of the characters, the way it gets deep into the technique learning, the variety in the world in which all things happen, and even the rank systems.
the story is good. but the anime after episode 120 something has gotten dull. when they restart the anime according to the manga, it will rock again

It depends on individual opinion. But I like watching Naruto. The movie is great. Although I never watch the whole movie, the episode where I started was awesome! You should try to watch a few more episodes. Then you will start to understand the storyline and you will enjoy the movie too.

I started to like it before but didn't after they start putting in like 200 filler episodes. I think everyone likes it so much because the thought of being a ninja is so awesome. xD Fighting a protecting others at such a young age is inspiring I guess, plus how hard they work. xDDD

which episode did you watch? try watching the first one. it was the one that got me hooked on it and now ive got about 185 episodes of it. just sit back and watch as naruto and his gang develop into adults. superpowered water walking tree climbing fire spewing adults. man i just love that! and the way people constantly bite their fingers for blood! mmmm tasty! the show in the unedited japanese version is so much better than what is on tv. if you have the time just go online and look for naruto. try narutoworld.com itll open your squinted eyes.

I like the show because it has an engaging relatable storyline. A down on his luck ne'er-do-well is an outcast hated by many, but somehow manages to overcome that hatred and succeed despite those who wish him harm. It is a classic story.

It is an involving anime with a real stroy line.

Those that enjoyed DragonBall Z and Inuyasha have glommed onto this
