I am a staunch, dyed-in-the-wool Republican. But, given the poor job this administration has done in so many areas, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat just to defeat a Republican and a Democrat.
This country needs a third choice. I'd call the new party "Constitutional Purist" Party. Or maybe "Constitutional Libertarian" Party. What ever I'd call it, the Party line would go strictly with the letter of the law as defined in the Constitution.
If the Founding Fathers said it, it's the law! That would be my stand!

I suspect Lieberman lost his base with his earlier assessment of the war in Iraq. I find this somewhat ironic - people are always complaining about politicians "playing politics" and along comes a guy who honestly tells it as he sees it - and, wham, he's booted out. What does that say to the next elected official when he is confronted with telling the truth or telling the people what he feels they want to hear? We need more people like Lieberman in Washington. I hope he wins as an independent.

It's about time a viable "third party" candidate took center stage. He is a moderate which is what most of America is. Unfortunately, his party, The Democrates, are pulling hard to the left. They could not include his wisdom in their narrow thinking. Two years from now he may even run for the Presidency again. This time as an independent he could win. Let's watch and see what happens. If he will close the borders and give us ethanol fuel for our cars I will vote for him. The two party system often offers little to the moderates who are the swing votes in every election.

I think having another independent senator could be more of what the U.S. needs to keep the Democrats and Republicans from going too far to their extreme positions as often as has been occurring. I want more senators who can think for themselves rather than just follow the rest of the party all of the time.

The Democrats should have supported him. Now they will loose a seat in the Senate. Not a very smart Tactical move for a party that is supposed to be better than the Republicans!!!!

I hope he splits the democratic party and gets vengeance for the way they ditched him. It is an insult to the party to push him aside after all He did for the party.
