There is nothing wrong with reading and studying things you read online, but when it comes to then writing a paper about the topic, don't use copy and paste. Take the info that you have learned about, assimiliate it, and write about it in your own words. Ideas aren't copyrightable, but words are.
As a writer for something online, it's pretty hard to prevent plagiarism, but being clear on your copyright helps. If people are going to steal it they are going to steal it no matter what you write.

The Internet is an amazing database of millions upon millions upon millions of pages and articles of information on any given subject. Now you do not need a book to find information, all you need is a computer and internet access and you then have a window into more information that a hundred novels/books could give you. The way to avoid plagiarism is ALWAYS cite your sources, even if not required. Take the information you read, process it, and then give feedback. You are not trying to copy their information. You should be trying to give opinions on it and use it to help support your opinion. If you ever use EXACT words from any source, you MUST use quotation marks and cite it correctly according to the style of paper you are writing.
