My experience is that flash fiction is creative writing of anything under 1,000 words but typically 750-500 words or fewer. (Microfiction is usually 250 words or fewer.) I've published a number of flash pieces in regular magazines, but there are some places that publish only flash. Check the Yahoo! groups for the Flash Fiction Flash group run by Pam Casto -- it's good. Remember that flash fiction needs to have something happen, convey some kind of change or something of import. The reader should learn about something or someone in that small piece. Check out any bookseller for anthologies of them to get good examples.

Definitions vary, but "flash" fiction is also referred to as short-short fiction. I would consider anything shorter than 500 words to be "flash."

I don't know what flash fiction is, but slash fiction is where there is a same-sex pairing, usually male, as female parings are often called femmeslash or yuri (and I think there's one other name that I just can't think of right now).

Do you mean SLASH fiction?
I believe the first "slash" fiction stories were between Kirk/Spock, it means the slash in between two men or two womens names ie. Mulder/Krycek
You can google almost any pairing but be forewarned it's homoerotic writing mostly, I love it!
