I'm sure it's possible, but given the crazy prices of today, it's probably very hard to do.

Could I LOVE on $5.15 an hour? Sheesh! Is that what you really mean? Or do you mean could I LIVE on $5.15 an hour. There is one heck of a difference between those two statements. And yes, people do live on $5.15 an hour. Not extravagently, but it can be done. However, it is a good incentive to boost your education, and get a job that will let you live on a little more gracious level.
This is usually an entry level wage, and applies when young people are still living at home. But there are people who do live on wages this low. You have to admire them for making it on their own, rather than putting their hand out for welfare.

It is key to live absolutely within your means. at around $600 a month, you wouldn't have much in the way of means. If you are living at home and kicking say $200 a month to mom and dad for groceries and such, that leaves you with about $400 or $100 per week. If you have no other required expenses then there is no sense in blowing $100 a week on stuff that isn't helping you. may as well save half and try to find a little better paying job or get into school to get trained. It is very important not to aquire any debt. Especially credit cards. at your income level you cannot afford that kind of debt and your credit rating is worthless at that income level anyway. Save money, stay out of debt, live within your means, and always look to improve your financial ssituation and you will never have money problems.

No i live in New York you can't do anything with $5.15 hell you are spending $2 to get to work by train or bus if you take 3 then you just spent $4 then lunch in Manhattan is like $8 that's more then an hours pay that's not even a real job then no offense

It depends on where you live - if you're in part of Tennessee appalachia, where you can rent an apartment for $200 / month, then you can - if you're on the Coast (east or west), that's not even bus fare.

If you're in a warm climate and don't have high heating bills, like South Carolina, (and there are some reasonable places to live there, still), then you can swing it - but you'll never pay the heating bill in Chicago on those wages -

Why do you think there are so many homeless people in Hawaii - they live on the beach, so there living expenses is just food and clothing.

OH, MAN...What a typo you've got there!

But seriously...
I would be living at home with my parents on $5.15 per hour.

Maybe if I lived in a box under a bridge somewhere. Rent here is 600-700 a month for a one bedroom apartment.

do you mean could you love someone else that makes 5.15? I'm sure you could but I'm my own breadwinner so I wouldn't know.

$5.15 is below the minimum wage, but I bet people could do it.
