In the last seen, why does Ennis say "Jack, I swear........"
What is he referring to? He says it at the end when he looks at the brokeback mountain picture.

As I remember, my impression at the time was that he meant only a general sense of frustration with the whole mess. His secret lover was gone, leaving him alone with a lot of unanswered questions. I took his expression as an emotional response with no intended finishing words.
When those we love die, what is left to say?

Oh no, I just bought the movie last weekend and I haven't seen it since it was in the theatre. As soon as I get home from work I'll watch this scene and post my answer.
