Because they do not understand the ideas. What they call freedom is actually socialism. They preach freedom yet they have every intention of destroying gun rights. Freedom to them is taxing excessively; removing economic freedom. Freedom to them is political correctness, thought control. Their idea of freedom is affirmative action, racism pure and simple aimed at those too young to have committed any crimes. The biggest is as you have mentioned; the constant attempt to undermine the war on terror. Who will guard your freedom if we loose; Iran???

Why is it when the liberals discuss freedom, freedom loses out.

What they (the liberals) are failing to understand is that "FREEDOM" and "LIBERTY" are not the same thing. Freedom was bought with the price of blood. Liberties are the benefits of living in a free society. Liberties also carry a responsibility to be a good citizen as well. And liberties are not necessarily rights.

Rights are inalienable (automatically given as a part of the human make up), liberties are more aply described as "priviledges." Driving a car is a "priviledge" which the state can revoke. However, you have the liberty to drive in this country, but only under certain conditions (you must have a license).

Freedom, on the other hand, is a RIGHT guaranteed by the Constitution and cannot be revoked without due process. In other words, you can't be unduly imprisoned without a fair trial. And the first ten amendments to the Constitution are called "The Bill of Rights" and they cannot be repealed.

You have the liberty, for example, to be gay in this country; it's not against the law. But you do not necessarily have the right; meaning that the government is bound by law to support your decision. (I'm not anti-gay either, folks. I'm just citing an example!)

They do that as cover for their hatchet men (ACLU) who goes out and continues to get rid of our liberties and a lot of our freedoms. Then we also have to include the activist judges who try to legislate from the bench. More and more of them are being reversed.

This is one of the main reasons there is so much confusion in the democratic party.. They thought they had everything under control... education (mostly liberals), activist judges, control of congress for 40 years, unions, etc. Then they see that power leaving their control and can't understand, why all that planning is not working. Must be very frustrating.

Yeah create a concern then arise with a answer. Its called the gadget. The gadget desires to maintain turning to create revenue. a good analogy may well be throwing somebody right into a lake that could no longer swim and then leaping in to maintain them. You recklessly endanger then you definately improve right into a hero. have you ever considered the record of what number cases the ACLU throws Christians into the lake?

Because that's the core of their platform.

Liberal. Liberty. Get it?

I won't comment about the obvious fallacy in your views on the Founding, except to say that a lot has changed in 230 years. So, if you're using 200+ year-old definitions, you might want to hit "Refresh".

Because someone else tells them of an instance where someone else MAY be having their civil liberties violated.

99% of the Liberals on here who complain about out so called loss of freedoms, could not give you one example of a time where the patriot act actually violated their own civil liberties.

Um no liberals wouldn't have, what the hell is with people bitching about liberals. Enjoy your rights, there's people fight for them, and in the meantime if I have to see another dumbass question about liberals I"m going to hit someone. I"m not liberal, but it seems daily that 600 questions against liberals are always asked, and really they're not even questions.

Actually, 18th and 19th century "liberals" were similar in political leaning to "conservatives" of today. And today's liberals are similar to conservatives from that time period (authoritarian). In other words, in 1776, Thomas Jefferson was a liberal, but if he were alive today, he would be an ultraconservative.

Cuz it's those exact freedoms and liberties that allow them to ***** and moan. They're hypocrites. It's like this, they want someone else to protect their rights, but then turn around and accuse the people who protect their freedom of being warmongers.
