Political parties seem incapable of understanding that culture, power and humanity is complex and subtle. Everything is distilled down into black and white concepts.

Some good comments here, but I am really curious to know why America suffers this problem while other countries do not. Is there something inherent in the system of psyche there which causes this polarization?

Politicians, though not all, have a habit of tapping into the lowest common denominator to gain political points. In some ways, their behaviour simply reflects that of the voter. I think they are no worse than Joe Six-pack, who refuses to see all sides of an issue, or even crack open a good book.

With so much access to information these days, there is no excuse, but there they go, pandering to the blind masses...

Look around you at the people near you. How many of them know their state representatives?, or Congress members? What percentage of the people in your neighborhood voted in the last election? If they didn't like the incumbent did they vote for someone else or just not vote? Do you see where I'm going with this? We're supposed to be self- governing our country and its affairs, but we're happy to let whomever has the biggest mouth or deepest pockets impress their ideals upon us. The sad part is that most people are too lazy to work for change or to get involved in the political process.

With each and each of the corruption in Mexico's government, Im no longer shocked. If the mexicans have any guts, or actual desire to alter their united states for their greater helpful, and do have a civil conflict, there isn't any doubt in my techniques, that usa will gladly help them. now's the time for a civil conflict for Mexico, as a results of fact the government cant administration the desire of the human beings, now that it extremely is in disarray, yet my ultimate wager is, that they gained't do something, basically as background shows, mexicans dont get up! They lay down and fairly stay, or run to the yankee border to flee their problems. this could be a cowardly act! no you may replace their land or government yet them! no longer in elementary terms could america preserve usa from a attainable flood of illegals, by utilising putting troops on the border, we could continuously watch heavily, and then attack!

I could engage in a wordy political diatribe on the vast corporate, ethical and racial problems America faces that makes this horrible situation possible, but I couldn't be bothered and will just say the answer is Candy Floss! Yay!

Lack of interest in it most likely, and it can be a bit confusing at times..Besides the public isnt informed of the facts or reality in Washington DC...only what they feel we should know..so it makes it hard to understand the true intentions of the Government..

the thirty second sound bite, voter att. deficit disorder, the republicans constant harping about "nuances" in political discourse being a bad thing, the democrats inability to explain nuances in politics without sounding like droning idiots, the out-of-touch political dynasties we keep allowing to take power, etc.

I think it's the other way around: our politicians fail to appreciate that certain important things *are* black and white, and the "complex and subtle" relationship that they have with their constituents impels them to make pernicious compromises.

We're stuck with 2 parties, because they are so powerful and wealthy. Yes, even the Democrats.

Voters respond to factoids, 30 second commercials, and billboards. If we were more bookfairish than MTVish things would change.
