study says women of age 30-40 are more likely to have serious PMS, i certanly experienced that, it is different over the years, i became more irritable, very angry, exhausted, depressed, ...and after my period i feel everythings normal again, can't explain why. i just want to know if anyone felt the same, and whats the treatment? my doctor gave me anti depressant, but i am worried the side effect, and haven't take them, i hope there are other alternatives, thanks for your help. guys who like to make joks just keep your finger cross, maybe your wife/future wife will have it oneday, then it is not so funny anymore.

I don't know if you have ever tried some of the over the counter medicines for pre menstrual tension(yup the woman crazies and I know all to well) but if not you might give them a try , I have and it does help me. Also i take a high stress B vitamin as they are water soluble and can be taken daily without harm. good luck I know what your experiencing and I too would be leery of taking an antidepressant if something else might work that is natural.

Irritable? Depressed? That's nothing. I was totally paranoid. I knew that if the waiter brought the wrong meal, he was out to get me. If my secretary made a typo, it was because she wanted me to look bad and get fired. I KNEW the world was against me and I was determined to make them pay. The worst part, I was completely unaware of what was going on.

One day I noticed that my secretary had the date circled in red on her calendar. I was certain it was because she was planning some dastardly deed. After a twenty minute harangue on my part, she finally confessed that it was to remind her that I was going into my pre-menstral phase to not take anything I said/did personally. She explained that for more than 3 weeks a month, I was a great boss but that for 4 or 5 days a month I was a monster. Her mother had been the same way so she knew what was happening.

It's all hormones. Once I realized what was going on, I told her that she had been assigned a new job duty -- to remind me when that day came around so I could learn to control myself. It was amazing ! ! Once I was aware of the problem, and made a consious effort to calm down, the symptoms, while they didn't disappear, were easier for everyone to deal with, including my long-suffering secretary.

I'm not big on medications, so while I slipped once in a while, the problem was never again severe. All I can suggest is that you mark your calendar to let you know it's coming, then take a lot of deep breaths before you react negatively to things. It worked for me.

I have severe mood swings before my period. I turn into a different person. I feel very out of control and hyper. The medicine could help you, but it will cause side effects. Since you only have this a few days a month, I would seek other treatment. Maybe some type of mild sedative would help calm you down when you feel irritable. I have started taking a half of a nerve pill when I start to feel out of control and this usually calms me down and helps me to think more clearly. Men are so lucky they don't have to deal with any of this crap!!!!!!

i guess that is normal for women but the severity differs. During those times of the month .. i morphed into sumone i seriously dislike. My mood swings became very bad. I am very temperemental. I would blow up at even a very slight mistake. I just want to spend the days in bed. Nuthing is ever right. My ex bf is always the victim of my PMS. We would be on the fone and it will usually ends with me scolding him over nothing. Thankfully he understood. But for the record, we dun part because of my PMS problem .... he has loads of other girlfriends

A couple of days (6 to be exact) before your period, your body experiences a rise in progesterone and a sudden drop will follow. The rise and drop of progesterone affect your brain (your limbic lobe) creating mood swings, anxiety, aggression, depression, anger, rejection, etc.. To lighthen these effects you may try to avoid red meat about a week before your period arrives. Eat more vegetables and fruits, and calcium with magnesium. Best wishes!!!

I went through that. It passes with time. I called it Jeckyl and Hyde syndrome. Because that is what I felt like. Good Luck.
