How does the digestion fare up?

I will try to answer what I think you're asking, although it's not really clear.

According to what I understand of proper food combining (from Harvey & Marilyn Diamond's book, Fit for Life), fruit should only be eaten alone. They recommend we eat our fruit on an empty stomach, especially for breakfast. Also might have a fruit salad, wait 30 minutes, then eat lunch or dinner. Fruit should not be sweetened or cooked, ideally.

Fats are not a category by themselves. They are either fats that occur in carbohydrate type foods (bread, noodles) or in protein type foods (meat & cheese). Either one would be eaten only with vegetables, for the ideal digestive climate. Never eat proteins and carbs at the same meal. Exceptions are beans and legumes which are protein foods w/ lots of carbs in them, so somewhat difficult to digest for most people.

The philosophy is that carbohydrates require an alkaline digestive environ but proteins require more acid (if I have it straight), whereas veggies can digest pretty easily in either environment.

BTW, I just heard an interview w/ Harvey Diamond, in which he now recommends digestive enzymes at every meal, especially for those over 50 years of age.
