Depends on the state where you currently have established your residency. Some states will allow for spousal support for a limited time while others will allow for an extended period of time (sometime years) depending on the circumstances and your attorney strategy. May I suggest that in the future you prepare a pre-nup in order deal with this without too miuch of a hassle.

If you've already split everything and whatever it says in the agreement. Whatever the paper said that you signed. LOL You're indebted forever and ever. NO just kidding. I've never been divorced so I don't really know for sure. My sister got the house and vehicle and probably gets covered for the childrens needs but not her own stuff.

It is legally possible that the court awards her alimony. And frankly, I think it is only fair. Because as a man you have no idea what it means to have to go out there after a shattered marriage, having lost house and home, and having to start from scratch again.
Depending on your income a judge might consider giving her alimony so that she can make it, especially if there are children involved.

If the divorce judgment states that spousal support/alimony is forever barred to either party, then no.

Otherwise, the issue of alimony is always modifiable.

In most states.

only during the divorce proceedings can she ask for spousal support. if she denies it before the final divorce, the judge will let you know that if she should change her mind afterwards, she will not get it. even if she tried to take you back to court over it. one chance is all you get with that! so, if your divorce is all settled and she didnt get it then, take it easy, she wont be receiving it anytime soon from you!

no i dont think so as soon as the divorce is final i have never heard of a woman being able to go back and change that..once the divorce is final she is considered a single woman, she cant go back and act as if she's still married to u , or that u have to pay for something, she screwed up by not asking for it to begin with u should be in the clear of it..

Yes.. esp if you guys have kids.. and the kids are granted to your wife.. she has a right to seek financial support from you for herself and the kids... until a certain time specficied by the judge like when your kids completed their studies.. Payment is usually on a monthly basis and if you default.. your wife can sue you...

She can seek it but whether it will be granted is different. Depends on what state you live in, how long you've been married, etc.
