I would think an acoustic guitar amp would work perfectly, but I'm looking for something 'not so' perfect or normal in sound quality if you know what I mean, something more metal in nature.

certain there's a distinction... an electric powered guitar has a similar 6 strings as your acoustic... yet a lighter gauge of string w/ 1/2 wound (decrease) & 1/2 nickel (more effective be conscious) strings... as an acoustic would have 4 wound & 2 nickel... The action makes an electric powered guitar look a lot extra accessible to play than an acoustic. an electric powered bass (usually) has 4 strings & all are wound & very thick, compared to a 6 string guitar. the significant 4 strings (as basses do are available 4, 5, 6, 8, & 12 string fashions) are about an octave or 2 below the the 4 decrease talked about strings of the guitar (lowE, A, D, G)... The bass guitar usually holds the "root" recognize a music or progression & compliments the music or progression as rythm w/ the drums. similar scales & tunings... diverse feels & objective.

Yes, it will work fine. The sound you ultimately get will depend on the pickup in your guitar as well as the amp you use. Since you will be plugged, you can use distortion boxes (sometimes called "stomp boxes") to get all sorts of cool sounds. Then stomp on the pedal on the box and you're back to acoustic.

It won't be the same as a real electric guitar sound, but it will certainly be different from an acoustic guitar sound.

Yes, they work ok, but they tend to feedback when turned up too much... My advice is to trade in the acoustic for a cheap electric, if you're gonna be playing metal... It'll be MUCH kinder to your fingers, too...! Metal songs - played on an acoustic - sound pretty lame, anyway...
