To people outside the family, it is just a news story. The media seize on this story because of certain elements of the story and because JonBenet was a beautiful child. Unfortunately, in reality, there are many unsolved murders of children. For the family, even when the murderer is imprisoned the story is never over. Whenever another child is missing the memories come flooding back.

It is devastating to endure the murder of a child. For those who have never had this kind of suffering it is difficult to understand. The media always talk about "closure" but there is no closure.

Members of the Parents of Murdered Children lobby legislators to get laws changed like truth in sentencing so that a murderer sentenced of 20 years must do 75% of that time. In Michigan that law was passed. Prior to that murderers were sometimes paroled after only serving 8 years of their sentence. Another law that was passed in Michigan was mandatory sentencing guidelines so that certain crimes have a minimum mandatory sentence.

State governments try to manage with limited resources. It takes $30,000 per year to keep a person in prison in most states. The legislators must consider the fiscal impact when passing a law. It is difficult to get laws passed like truth in sentencing and sentencing guidelines but it does help to keep murderers, rapists and child molesters in prison so that innocent people may be safe.

The government gives us a "sense" of security. It cannot provide actual security. It is so expensive and difficult for police to make an investigation that if the media do not mark the case as high profile then sometimes the case gets shelved. It is also very expensive and time consuming for the prosecutors office to prosecute a case. It all looks so easy on television, in reality it is very time consuming taking years.

If you want to the current legislation that Parents of Murdered Children are trying to get passed in your state see their website.

It is never too old when you are talking about the murder of a young, innocent six-year old little girl. Who cares when It took place? I am glad that after 10 years, the police are still trying to solve this mystery. What if it was your daughter? How would you feel? It is a murder case that many people know about - but don't yet have a solution to or closure.Like anything else, there is a certain amount of compassion for the parents and hope that this mystery will be solved no matter when it took place. If she was killed this week or 10 years ago, the mystery still remains.

"There go I but for God." I know that this sort of horror could happen to any one of us in this cold, downtrodden world. People who are hopeless and don't believe in God, will think nothing of other people's grief. I do care and wish, from this moment on, that no one would suffer again in any fashion or form. I rely on the Lord's guidance for my life. It is difficult to follow the Ten Commandments, but it is so worthwhile to try. I am a better person every time I treat another person with respect. If God made them, I must show them appropriate respect. Remember this, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31. Peace and God Bless.

You very unsensitive to make a statement like that. Imagine she were your child...and they suspected you of her murder for 10 years??? Her mother died with people thinking she had something to do with the murder! How would you feel. I am very glad that they found the guy and I am glad that Jonbenets dad and brother can have piece of mind for once in 10 years!!

A child was murdered and no one was convicted. I care about Jon Benet'. No child deserves what happened to her. Her life was cut short because of some sick SOB. Whomever did it needs to be fried.

i do. it actually proves that american investigators can solve a mystery with literally no evidence. Who cares if it's old? Put yourself in JonBennet's parents position. Wouldn't you care? ahb-viously. So Don't go judging things like that. It's so rude.

what if it were one of your kids, or a niece or friend's children? it does get redundant because the media tends to over-do these stories. but have a heart for this poor little kid who deserves justice. :)

Do I want to see hour after hour of news about it? No.
Do I want justice for this child? You darn right I do.
Whoever killed her should and will rot in hell.
