The key words here are "he wants to have his cake and eat it too." Would you be happy w/that? If not, then you need to think about why you want him to stay just because your kids need their daddy. If he stays under the circumstances you are describing, then he will get what he wants...but won't you be miserably unhappy? If you allow him to stay and you are unhappy, your unhappiness will make it almost impossible to be a good mother to your children.

I know it will be hard, but you need to tell him he has to make a choice. If he chooses to leave, then you will have to decide whether you would ever take him back (if he did decide to return).
I am sure this is a terribly painful situation to be in, but think about your options. What "working things out" means to him sounds a lot different than what it means to you. If you have pride and respect for yourself, then there really isn't anything to think about.

Remember this is your fiance and not just a boyfriend. If he were already your husband, what would you do? If your answer is that you'd ask him to leave, then that's what you need to be strong enough to ask him to do.

Of course, you are the only one who can decide what to do. But since you've asked for help...

I'm sorry he put you through that, it's messed up. You need to leave that selfish boy behind. I know you care about your girls, but he will either visit them or he won't, it depends if he's got any heart at all. Good Luck girl and I hope you find a new man who was worth goin through all this nonsense.

Will you open the door for him or should I go to your house and open it for him?
