It depends on what kind of homecoming your school throws. At mine we wear nice dresses about knee length so that we can dance... you could just curl your hair instead of getting like a formal updo. i recomend accessorizing, but dont stress on shoes, we take ours off so they dont hurt our feet after a long time of dancing. But just ask your girlfriend what they're going to wear, they wont let you buy something totally ugly! Plus its more fun 2 shop for dresses w/ your friends!

* Give yourself plenty of options, and the opportunity to step out in a dress no other girl will be wearing. Visit the department stores and boutiques across town, or shop online for a selection of dresses not carried in your hometown shops.
* Pass on the full-length dresses and look at styles that hit at, just above, or just below the knee. For more formal functions, consider dresses made of satin, velvet or a sequined knit.
*Try on a sleeveless shift dress in cotton sateen or a short-sleeved jewel-neck dress in a shiny black jersey. When the fall temperatures are really low, pair one of these with a fuzzy angora sweater, and don't forget your coat.
* Let prints or trims dress up an otherwise simply cut dress. Look for an off-the-shoulder dress with ruffled or fringed edging, or a knit dress with rhinestone or beaded trim.
**Tips:
If your date is tall, think about wearing heels. Wear wedge sandals with a slip dress, or pair slingback pumps with a long-sleeved dress.
**Skirts are definitely an option for homecoming. Pair a colorful embroidered pullover with a knee-length slim skirt and low heels.
**Dress up your hair with decorative clips, and slip on a nice necklace or bracelet.
**Tips from eHow Users:
Short is good by eHow Friend
Don't go super short or you won't look lady like. Knee length is the best way to go. Dresses that are long at some points, and higher at others, make really great dresses.

It would be nice if you put on a nice ,simple, pretty dress. And do your hair really nice, because sometimes if you don't wear something nice to homecoming then people(girls) talk about you.
good luck!
An example would be a pink satin type material dress with
your hair curl, topped off maybe with a pink rose ,and a date .
lol

sometimes it depends on if you go with a date. if you are, then one option would be to dress according to the homecoming theme. if theres no theme of the theme is just too cheesy, match with your date and wear something classy, but not necessarily expensive. if you're not going with a date, just wear something semi-casual.

The only thing I can give you is tips on hair...
1. Take a section of hair from the center of your hairline that's two inches wide and one-and-a-half inches deep. Twist the hair tightly until it coils up entirely, then secure the coil to your head an inch back from your hairline with two bobby pins.
2. Divide the rest of your hair into a top half and a bottom half. Divide the top half into a left half and a right half.
3. Sweep the right half up and back behind the coil you created in step 1, and use it to create a second coil. Secure it just behind and to the right of the first with two bobby pins.
4. Sweep the left half up and back and use it to create a third coil. Secure it to the left of the second coil.
1. Pull your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic.
2. Take a one-inch piece of hair from your ponytail and wrap it around the elastic to cover it, then secure it underneath with a bobby pin.
3. Clip rhinestone bobby pins vertically above and around the base of your pony to look like a fan.
TRY: Claire's rhinestone bobby pins, $9 for two, Claire's stores
1. Pull your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic.
2. Take a two-inch section of hair from the underside of your ponytail and braid its length. Wrap it around the elastic to cover it, then secure it underneath with two bobby pins.
1. Create a part from ear to ear going across the back of your head.
2. Twist the top section of your hair into a bun, letting the ends stick out. Secure it with five or six bobby pins.
3. Twist the bottom section of your hair into a bun, letting the ends stick out, and secure it below the first one with five or six bobby pins.
1. Brush all of your hair toward the front of the right side of your head.
2. Starting at the center of your forehead, twist your hair down the length of your hairline towards your right ear, keeping as much volume as possible in the twist.
3. When you've twisted all of your hair to just behind your right ear, flip the ends up and out and pin them in place using two or three bobby pins.
4. Secure the twist along its length with four or five bobby pins.
1. Create a center part in your hair that goes three inches back from your hairline.
2. Take a one-inch section of hair to the right of your part and pull it back and to the left. Secure it to your head two inches back from your hairline with a diagonal bobby pin.
2. Take a one-inch section of hair to the left of your part and pull it back and to the right, crossing it over the ends of the hair you pinned back in step 2. Secure it just after the overlap with a diagonal bobby pin.
3. Continue pulling back, crossing over, and securing a one-inch wide sections of hair from both the left and right sides until you reach the crown of your head.
TRY: Claire's colored bobby pins, $7 for 24, Claire's stores
1. Create a center part from your hairline to the nape of your neck.
2. Two inches back from your hairline, make another part to the left of the center part, down to your left ear.
3. Take the two inch section of hair you've just created along the left half of your hairline. Starting at the top, begin twisting the hair down towards your left ear, gathering all the hair in that section as you go. When you reach your left ear, clip the twist to your head with a bobby pin to keep it in place while you work on the rest of the style.
4. Two inches back from the downward part you created in step 2, create another part from your center part down to ear-level. Create an identical twist in the section of hair you've just created, clipping the end of the twist directly behind the first to keep it in place.
5. Repeat step 4 all along the length of your center part until you've reached the center of the back of your head, then follow the same steps on the right half of your hair to make it look like the left.
6. Take the ends of each of the clipped twists and twist them each along their length to the nape of your neck. Join the twists--along with any remaining hair--into a low ponytail and secure it with an elastic.
7. Tuck the ponytail under itself and secure the ends underneath with three or four bobby pins.
1. Create a part from ear to ear going across the back of your head.
2. Create a center part in the top section of your hair.
3. Smooth the left half of the top section back and, from your crown to the center of the back of your head, tuck the ends of the hair under tightly, using decorative bobby pins along its length to secure the tuck close against your head.
4. Separate the right half of the top section of your hair into three sections--top, middle, and bottom.
5. Pull the top section back to the crown of your head and tuck the ends under to create a high, open loop that covers the tuck you created in step 3. Secure the ends inside the loop with two bobby pins.
6. Repeat step 5 on the middle and bottom sections to create a uniform swirl that runs from your crown to the center of the back of your head.
TRY: Claire's rhinestone bobby pins, $7 for six, Claire's stores
1. Pull your hair into a low ponytail and secure it with an elastic.
2. Pull a one-inch wide section of hair from your ponytail upward toward the base of your ponytail and twist it once or twice so the ends flip out messily. Secure the loose flip to your head with a flower bobby pin.
3. Create and clip five more messy flips all around the top of your ponytail.
