Where can my girls and I start 'letter boxing'?

I thought maybe someone knows some good spots around the St. Louis/Mid-Illinois areas.

I'm not sure about letter boxing in your area, but the sport of geocaching is similar. You use a GPSr (global positioning system receiver) to find coordinates posted online by other geocachers. At the coordinates, you'll find some sort of cache. It might be a tupperware container, it might be an ammo box, or any of a hundred other containers. People trade trinkets, sign the log, and so on.
