i was looking at ur above answers and there is a difference. i used cv for more professional/formal job interviews, whereas resume i used for less formal. it depends on where u apply...ask them if they want cv or resume...as undergrad or entry level positions usually resume is all that's needed since u won't have much experience to put. but after undergrad, i needed cv to apply to more professional jobs.
basically a cv is much more detailed...i wrote a short paragraph for each of my experiences. u can use an unlimited amount of space. resumes are short...more list-like...and is usually just a page long. maybe 2 if u really got a lot of experiences to list.
i also printed out my cv on really nice paper...slightly thick...u could just use white, but i wanted mine to stand out a little, so i chose a soft blue.
also to make an exceptional cv, vary the font size, use indentation...but all spacing and sizing must be consistent. in other words if one heading is in bold and font size 12, then all of the other headings need to be the same. it must look perfect, have no spelling errors, funny grammar, etc. resume too, but it's more so with cv.

It comes down to where you are applying. In higher education they ask for CVs and everywhere else they ask for resumes, but they are the same thing. CV is from the latin curcum vitae.

CV is the cover letter that tells in your own words the job you want and your credentials or skills that make you believe you deserve an interview. Resume is not in you own words and list specifics such as objects, skills, experience.

In my opinion, "CV" is an abbreviation used by people who are a bit snobbish and want to imply that they know a bit of Latin, and resume is what normal people say.
