While driving on a long trip?

For me...it's either coffee/Coke and spicy pork rinds.

I know, it's not healthy, but it keep Kojak from wrecking.

Yeehaw!!!!!

(No moonpies, though!)

have you heard of 'wake-up's? they're caffeine pills you can buy at the pharmacy, and they work really well - i've stayed up 72 hours straight when taking them!

I'd suggest switching turns while you're driving. Take a stop somewhere once at least to get out of the car and eat somewhere so that you can relax without having to focus on the road. Pick a Denny's or Perkins or something on the way, somewhere you can have a good meal.

Other than that, yes... Caffine will help, especially good coffee. Make sure to have NUTRITIOUS snacks in the car, especially fresh fruit and granola bars (non-chewy, saturated fat is yuck). DO NOT USE JUNK FOOD. Your energy will crash out and you'll get sluggish very fast. This is not only counter-productive, but can be dangerous.

Play the radio (don't blast it, that's very distracting and can get you in an accident), talk while the two of you are awake. Don't use a cellphone if you're the one awake and driving unless you have a headset. Make a mix CD or tape of things you enjoy. Bring a book for each of you as well to read while you're not driving and you don't feel like talking. Also, bring a camera for the passenger so you can both enjoy the sights of the trip and it will keep whomever gets to snap shots entertained.

Coffee and/or Diet Coke, and a real loud rock 'n roll radio station. I can drive a real long day, but once night comes I got to pull into a motel for the night--get a bite, shower and sleep and hit the road again at dawn.

Well, even though the stuff looks like antifreeze, I drink Mountain Dew -- it has more caffeine than coffee! I also chew gum -- either Polar Ice (no, NOT "polarize" lol) or IceBreakers Cinnamon flavor.

If it's cool outside, I open the window to get cool air on my face.

Turn on the radio, and sing along.

I drink colas or coffee and drive with the window open making lots of breeze. If it's really bad, I take my shoes off. I learned that on the Match Game, believe it or not.

The BEST cure is cigarettes, but I quit 12 years ago, so it's no longer an option.

For me it's moonpies, just kidding. Seriously it's the windows down, loud music, mtn. dew and a pack of smokes.

Coffee. I also start my trip 1 hour after I get up from a good nights sleep. That way I can go several hours before I get tired.

Windows down. cold air on, loud classic rock, singing like nobody hears me, Camel Turkish Jade Light 100s, occasional stops to bend and twist and stretch and pee, and coffee. Long trips are the only time I drink coffee.

LOTS of CaFfEiNe and LoUd MuSiC!
Anything to keep my pulse rate up. (Dancing, headbanging, and singing loudly help too.)
As long as it doesn't involve me doing anything stupid like driving with my foot out of the window or spraying water continuously on my face. That could get ugly.

coffee, coffee, coffee....... and we never eat to a full stomach if driving it makes you lethargic and sleepy. And if we still feel sleepy we usually pull up at a McD take a 20-25 mins nap and then carry on with our journey
