Darren Dreifort, Dodgers pitcher, was paid $57 million for 2001-2005 and went 9-12 and missed 2 full seasons with injury.
Someone else mentioned Kevin Brown's $100+ million contract.
That was horrendous, too, but at least he won 10+ games for 5 years of his contract. Dreifort was paid over $6 million PER WIN.

No, Chan Ho Park wins that award. He signed with the Rangers in 2001 for $15.3 mil, per season, and went on to reward the Rangers with a whopping 22 wins over 4 seasons. Now that's bad.
I also think you have to consider A-rod, Jeter and Giambi for most overpaid. All are very good players, but none of them are so much better than everyone else that they deserve such inflated contracts.

Well, can I throw Kevin Brown at ya? I mean, he parlayed a fairly average career into millions and that started when the Dodgers signed him and continued with the Yankees. Sure he was a big part of the Marlins' '97 winner but, boy, was he a stiff afterwards.

He has been a bust since he got that huge contract. However, he has the best arm from third to first that I have ever seen. He throws lasers to first, accurately, almost every time. Whether or not he was juiced???? Who knows, but probably so.

Arod at least won an MVP. Nobody could live up to that contract. He's still very good. Kevin Brown gets my vote. Huge contract and was usually hurt too much to play.

He isn't the most overpaid because A-Rod is, but he is very overpaid. He didn't take steriods in '04 he just had a good year. If you take any steriod it will take more than a year to wear off. O and all of these thumbs down on my answers you just admit that your Yankees are bastards almost as bad as you and buy their wins.

True Dat! At first when I heard he was leaving I was really mad. Then when I see how he's been doing these last 2 years I'm glad we let him go. I don't think he used steroids though, I just think switching leagues sort of messed him up
