How can I find out the date of a marriage in NJ for free?

I don't need a copy of anything, I just need the date of the marriage.

If you know both of the names you could probably go to the hall of records in the county where the couple was married and/or call the hall of records or municipal building and ask the date. They might give it to you for free or you may need to pay to have a copy sent to you.
