Yes, I would! I've travelled much, and I may decide to live in a city new to me for a while. Often, I don't find anyone with whom I want to associate. I am quite content alone. I write books and paint pictures, and I need to be alone for that. Some women cannot stand for such artists as myself to lock themselves in while working. Many of my relatives are so obnoxious that I don't speak to them. I just quit speaking to my oldest sister 20 days ago. I didn't speak to her for years, but for Mom's sake, I tried to give it another chance. Sis soon began her usual hateful routines, and I take only so much of that from anyone. Often, one is much better off without friends or family.

I don't really have much in the way of family left, so I can comment on that. I have survived but it is sometimes lonely...especially around the holidays. When I moved to a new town, I didn't know anyone. I am friendly, unfortunately, most people in the town weren't. It took a while, but I hung in and found some nice people that I call friends now. You survive because you have to go on. Life gives all of us difficult trials.

I would survive (so long as I once had family, otherwise it would be impossible for me to be alive), but I would SURVIVE I just wouldn't be at all happy. Most of my happiness relies on just those people, I'd hate to loose them, and have been close to it a few times, but I would survive, I probably wouldn't want to though.

One may survive but its vry difficult. U have all those sweet memories to trouble u ...its hard to find a way out of it . No frnds and no family also..... the thought itself is painful!! Only survival does not matter being happy is what life is all about. If ur not happy ur not living ur life .I would die if i ever face such a situation

I've never felt that way and I don't think I would survive if ever I'll experience it. I believe that "no man is an island".

IT takes a lot more than that to survive without em'. Even though u try as hard as you can but eventually u're blissful memories will betrays you for everything u have gone thru with em'. Trust me I tried for 3 years in the underground but I became a prisoner of my own illusions...loneliness killed me... and it's that hard.but if somebody else can then.. god speed.

I agree that it will be hard for even the toughest of persons to continue bravely with-out their family and friends. I knew of some-one who lost her family members one by one ; they all lived in the same house , and she was left alone .Some-times husbands and wives die together or die soon after each other , the bond between them was so great ; same can be said of mothers and daughters ; mothers and sons ; fathers and daughters ; fathers and sons .Even family pets can sense grief.
