You can do it, and the most secure way is to make it out to yourself. Then endorse it on the back, using the words "For Deposit Only" and sign your name. That way the only legal thing that can be done with the check is to deposit the money into your account.

Yes, and you can do it either way. Or if it feels weird writing yourself a check you could always just withdraw cash from one account and deposit it into the other. If both accounts are at the same bank, most places have a form you can fill out to do it.

The answer to your question is yes. You can do it either way. With internet banking though it is a lot easier to transfer the funds on line and save the hassle to go to the bank. I only go to the bank to get cash from the drive thru ATM or if I have a rare hard check to cash.

Yes you can. Make sure that you actually have money in the account you are writing the check from, otherwise it would be considered "kiting", which is fraud and could get you arrested depending on how far the bank wants to take it.
