Just because you get rid of unions does not guarantee lower prices. If you don't believe me look at the prices for the big name tennis shoes that are made in China by slave labor (oops did I say that). Big corps like to keep money for themselves and overpaid CEO's.

Actually as a worker I would love to get rid of the unions!
Higher Pay for Less Work sounds Great! Well that raises the prices for the rest of Us!
Higher Pay and Less Work Sounds Great! Until the Companies Ship out the Jobs to Mexico or China because the rest of the country refuses to pay for the wages that are demanded by the Union Worker.
In the Beginning the Unions AKA the united Steel Workers Was a Very Good Idea But after only a few years it truly went down Hill.
There is serious need for reform here.
For the Most part the Non union Corps have learned a Good Lesson Fair Pay and mediocre Benefits will and do Keep the Union out of the picture but the ones where the unions started it is already too late for them as they cannot demand work for fear of a strike.

News Flash, most private sector workers are not unionized. The impact of eliminating all unions tomorrow would be zero.
The only segment of the economy where union representation is growing is government employees. Why do government employees need union protection?
The reason unions are shrinking in the private sector isn't wages and benefits its stupid union work rules that undermine productivity, and prevent the removal of deadbeats, malcontents, and other non-productive employees from the workforce. The end result is that companies that are unionized are getting their butts kicked and run out of business by the companies that aren't. Most of the time its not price but service. While the union company's union labor is thumbing through the contract to see if they really have to get this particular job done or not, the non-union labor of the competitior is getting the job done.

Because the right is all about making the big man bigger, and the little man stays in his place. Unions give money and power to average people who otherwise on their own probably couldn't do as well. For the right, and large company leaders, the less payroll they have to pay out is better for the company and makes proffits go up, which in turn working with alot of businesses creates a more powerful economy for our country. Unions in my opinion is almost like American Communism. You have no choice to join one, everyone makes nearly the same with the same benefits. It may be good for some people out there, but as a whole the country is better off when labor is cheap.

Why not let the people at each company decide if they want to be unionized? If unions worked the way they were supposed to, they'd be awesome! However, I've seen too many that just sit there collecting dues while giving their employees minimum (like 5 cents/year) raises, while increasing their dues by a dime and allowing health insurance costs to rise severely. And I've worked for a non-union company making nearly $10/hr for entry level work in my first two years. I say LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE!!

The right hate unions because the unions force the corporations to actually pay a livable wage to its workers, and we all know that the right is in the pockets of corporate America, so by destroying the unions the corporations don't have to pay there workers very much which is more money in the pockets of the CEO's.

I think it should be up to the workers, but it has been shown that alot of non-union jobs are starting to give similar benefits to union jobs (i can't remember where, but its on a local talk show host). Unfortunately I live in Pennsylvania and unions are mandatory. Its not really a favorable labor climate here and most employers come (if they do) and just leave.

Just look at the American auto industry. No more need be said. Check out the plants of Honda and Hyundai and other foreign auto companies in the U.S. Job satisfaction is huge compared to say G.M., wages are about the same (<3-5 %) but quality of life is much better. You tell me: What purpose do unions serve at this stage of the nation's maturity?
The American auto industry is dying a slow and steady death because of unions, and they have only themselves to blame. They have bargained themselves right out of jobs. What selfish and stupid idiots. Good luck in the "real world" fellas. Support those Democrats, eh?
So narrow-minded.

I left a union shop to get a better job in a non-union shop, because unions don't offer benefits. The employees pay for everything. No sick days, paid vacation, holiday pay, and no health insurance unless you have a pre-required amount of hours worked per quarter. Not to mention union dues, etc.

Because as long as unions exist, the Right Wingers have to treat workers like humans! Just another road bump in the journey to keep the common man down.
