Electrolysis (Hydrolysis). This is when you use say a battery or an source of electricity to reverse the reaction of H2O. The equation 2H2 + O2 => 2H20 spontaneously happens without external energy, but when you reverse the equation: 2H2O=> 2H2 +O2, you must take an amount of energy to break the H2O molecules up; in this case, it's through electricity.
