What is the best kind of verizon cell phone to buy that is a reasonable price?

I've always had good success with LG phones. Nokia is good too, though somewhat boring. But LG is very reasonable. Love the Razr too - but I'm normally not much of a Motorola fan, but the Razr is a good phone. All can be gotten for under $70 and depending on the deal as low as FREE. :)

I have gone through many verizon phones, I found out after trial and error that the cheapest "tri-mode" phones get the best signal provided you live without cameras and other things that make the phone more complicated.
