Unfortunately I don't think so, regardless of party many citizens just don't care, I call it the American Idol syndrome. We (USA) are like to former super athelete that has gotten fat and soft. I agree that the next 10 years will be crucial and I just don't think we're up to the task, I hope I'm wrong on this one. For those of us who care, it's time to "step up", organize, mobilize and execute at the grass roots level. Power to the people.

The US is a nation of sleep-walking people trying their best to cling to the status quo. They better wake up and look around at whats happened during their lethargy. They allow themselves to be led around by fear, lies, ignorance, glitz, greed & sex. The planet earth is practically in death thros. Our leaders blatently lie to us, milk us of our taxes, take our money and start pre-emptive wars, & fund other armies that use it to decimate civilian populations. The past two elections have been outright stolen and we have a wooden puppet head as pres. He can't communicate an entire sentence properly, even though he's wired up to an earphone that tells him what to say. And the Americans just seen to ignore it all. Their civil liberties are being carved down to nubs, and they tune into the latest movie star scandel. Whitehouse cabinet members are being investigated and yet nothing seems to happen. What happened to Patrick Fitzgerald's investigation? Has he been threatened? Why are not the American people kept informed of this?
Now that the energy prices have risen exponentially and the interest rates will shortly follow, power outages are becoming the norm, now perhaps they will begin to wake up. There is so much that needs to be done and quickly if we are to emerge as a nation intact at the end of this ordeal...and still have a living planet beneath our feet.

We all have this fantasy standard of life that involves using lots of fossil fuels to power the machines that make all of our crap and run our houses to make life easier. The same environmentalists that complain about it drive their SUV gas guzzler home. If everyone in the world thought they deserved this much crap then the world would already be a burnt out shell. It's all about the materialism I think, here we are invading oil rich countries...I wonder when we are going to have some great reason to invade Venezuela. We are creating a police state so corporations can make more money. Maybe if the bubble bursts we can get back to basics.

I'm not sure what your reality is or for that matter what your fantasy is..? I consider myself to be in touch with what is real or unreal and hope that I have a fairly firm grip on reality. I think the problem is that each of us have a different reality or at least a varied description of reality just as each of us have different fantasies. Your reasoning is unclear.... mine is clear in my own mind.

That's why I've paid off my debts and been saving money , to be prepared

there's a definite quantity of certainty in what you wrote (yet no longer thoroughly). I might desire to ask your self how many people, in the process the darkest days of the great melancholy, thought that American might by no skill get better. yet our suitable days have been nonetheless forward individuals. We nonetheless have the main important financial gadget, the ideal protection rigidity and there continues to be a protracted line of individuals desirous to get in. there's a school-of-thought that because of the fact of their one-newborn coverage China is going to enhance into "previous" previously they improve into "rich." i would not be stunned if China did no longer hit a brick wall resembling what occurred to Japan in the '90s.

We have a nation of idiotic flag-wavers who can't find Iraq on a map but are ready to defend the lies of the idiots that lead us. I'm convinced our bad public school system is deliberate. Keep the people stupid and cooperative and they'll believe any lie as long as you repeat it enough. Our founding fathers are rolling over in their graves.

You must be a politician. You have a knack for talking and talking and talking yet not actually saying anything. Back in my senior year in High School, my Literature teacher said that if you try to talk about everything, you'll only end up saying nothing.
