Last night I was watching what used to be called the McLauglhin group and John McLaughlin was insisting that passports indicate whether bearers are muslim. That's nuts. Muslim is a religion.

Elanor Clift was trying to tell him he was wrong but I think she deferred out of politeness to his host status and his obvious and increasing dementia. He use to be really sharp.

To the best of my knowledge no passport says what your ethnicity is. Definitely not the US passport. Muslim is technically an ethnicity of those that practice the religion of Islam. Maybe there are some countries in the world where a passport gives your ethnicity, but not in the US.

Other countries have passports that note ethnicity or religion. In the USA these aren't official designations, and so do not show on passports. How would we prove that someone was Muslim anyway>????? It's like marking the Jews in 1930s-1940s Nazi Germany....

I certainly hope not! I am a Christian with Muslim friends, and I hope the religion isn't listed.
What about those of us who go back and forth between Christian and agnostic? What would my passport say, Christian Monday thru Fri, and confused on weekends?

no they dont. Muslim is a religion not a type of people. There are white people that are muslim and people from Iran who are christians....all to say, religion has no right on a passport, cant discriminate on religion

Passport only provide names, citizenship and other personal circumstances but not religion because it is not necessary in the exit or entry to another state. Freedom of travel should not be denied because of religion or one's belief.

No, and they shouldn't. I have Muslim friends who are not terrorists, and that would be unfair to them.
