Makes perfect sense... "security in the United States depends on democracy taking hold in the Middle East".

Lebanon is a democracy, and there's never been any conflict there. And Palestine democratically chose Hamas as the ruling party. And of course, Iran with a democratically elected leader is a strong ally of the US. Not to mention that as soon as Iraq held a democratic election all of the violence immediately stopped.

And Saudi Arabia, being a non-democracy, has been an enemy for the US for as long as Bush has been alive. So, of course, democracy is the answer.

He is lying as usual!

He has already destabilized the whole area by attacking Iraq, which probably led indirectly to Lebanon due to the emergence of Iran as the Islamic power in the area!

"The way forward will be difficult, and it will require sacrifice and resolve," he said. "But America's security depends on liberty's advance in this troubled region, and we can be confident of the outcome because we know the unstoppable power of freedom."

If freedom is unstoppable, why is Bush losing Federal court cases for VIOLATING OUR FREEDOMS???

What he is say is more of the same, let the military be targets for Radical Islamics that we let into Iraq, and a civil war WE caused!!

There is no such thing as a Democracy in Iraq! Nor in the United States! If there truly was, George Bush lost the popular vote and would have never been president!

Lebanon is a democratic country, but the USA do not care for it and are happy to see their ally Israel wrecking it for no reason but Israeli hegemony in the Near East.
Iraq and the USA, on the other hand, are not democratic countries and never have been, despite much propaganda and rhetoric to the contrary.
The USA are a republic, and founded as such, modelled on the Roman republic, with clear position on the dominance of the rich and powerful and exclusion of the masses, who are to be used and manipulated at will by those in power.
Iraq was founded as a kingdom, and after a coup d'etat, financed by Britain and supported by the USA, it become a republic with a dictatorial structure. Until Saddam's invasion of Kuwait, another friend and client state of US and UK, there was no problem and Iraq received massive support from the USA and other Western countries.

I really think the US should leave Iraq..a lot of innocent civilians are killed on a daily basis...why...Usama has not been caught...I am starting to have my doubts about this person..is he really the person the US says he is??
I think Bush should be removed from power and get someone in the interim with a little more brain power for damage control...
look at the gas prices..they are down a little right after the cease fire...what a way to deviate the public's attention here in the US...mmm..

What are the latest oil prices in USA?
Iraq is our border neighbour but we pay at least 100(maybe more) bucks for a full tank in our car ( an average car like audi or vw)
Nobody cares about lebanon, iraq or any other country actually....it's all about controlling the area and oil.

BS

I think GW should be admitting that even he can't go into a region and force religious zealots to practice democracy. It isn't in their make up to follow the governing way of a country they really don't like in the first place.

Even putting US puppets in governing positions will not sway the people of the country to see things their way. . .

yeah, yeah, yeah, yada, yada, yada.................Bush wants democracy in the middle east, he wants Iraq to be an example like Germany or Japan.....it will never happen. Those people will blow themselves up, rape their own sister, kill their own families to get what they want. The middle east is the oldest known civilization and they will fight and kill to the very end. You would have to exterminate all middle easterners, if you were to ahieve peace in that part of the world!
