The vehicle is a 1990 Ford F150 truck, manual transmission, Electronic Fuel Injection, 302ci engine, and lots of mileage. Tapping the pedal, flooring the pedal, or pulling it up has no effect. Thanks in advance!

If this just suddenly came on, I would be looking for a rather large vacuum leak. i would check all of the vacuum hoses for the PCV valve, power brake booster, vacuum tree at the intake manifold. I would also check the power brake booster itself.

If the throttle isn't caught, seek for a vacuum leak. If none is contemporary, unplug the IAC (idle administration on the throttle physique) and faucet it gently with a small hammer - if the idle unexpectedly drops, replace it.

you have an Idle air control valve thats on the intake plenum that is either malfunctioning or needs to be cleaned. If cleaning does not do the trick then replace it.

chances are your Idle air control valve is bad. you can try to remove it and clean it with some brake cleaner to remove the carbon build up this sometimes works but not 100%
