The vehicle is a 1990 Ford F150 truck, manual transmission, Electronic Fuel Injection, 302ci engine, and lots of mileage. Tapping the pedal, flooring the pedal, or pulling it up has no effect. Thanks in advance!

one of the sensors that help control the idle has went bad on it at this point it is hard for me to say which one,,you did say it had a lot of mileage on it though,,so i think you should take it to an auto zone,,parts store,,and let them hook it up to there scanner,,and they can tell you what has went bad on it,,at this point i want to say its the idle solenoid,,or the I,A,C,,which is the idle air control valve,,it may have went out on it,,this will cause it to do that,,if you let them check it,,you,ll know for sure,,i hope this helps.,,they dont charge for checking it either.

If the throttle isn't stuck, look for a vacuum leak. If none is present, unplug the IAC (idle control on the throttle body) and tap it LIGHTLY with a small hammer - if the idle suddenly drops, replace it.
